The Cryptococcus Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Cryptococcus antigens in whole blood, serum or plasma to aid in the diagnosis of cryptococcal infection.
Cryptococcus is an encapsulated yeast that can cause severe fungal infections, particularly cryptococcal meningitis, especially in immunocompromised individuals such as those with HIV/AIDS. The detection of cryptococcal antigens in blood circulation is crucial for the early diagnosis and management of the infection. Early identification is therefore useful for initiating appropriate antifungal therapy and reducing mortality.
The Cryptococcus Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) utilizes a double antibody combination of an anti-Cryptococcus antibody coated particle and anti-Cryptococcus antibody immobilized on membrane to detect Cryptococcus antigens qualitatively and selectively in whole blood, serum or plasma.
